In this Sci-Fi cartoon show, we have the opportunity to see many other versions of Rick and Morty, from different dimensions and realities. Here, we are going to learn a few things about some of them and compare them with each other!
Tell me a story about rick sanchez ! Okay, which one?
First, we decided to compare Rick of our dimension - our main Rick, the C-137 one, with other cloned Ricks.
To select the interesting Ricks, we considered the Major and Minors Ricks presented in the Disambiguation Wiki Page of Ricks. We also crossed this selection with the transcripts we had, so that our analysis can be performed with enough text data for each selected Rick.
Doofus Rick: The kindest and sweetest of all the Ricks, but also the least respected by the rest, and sadly considered as the most stupid Rick... He approached Jerry during the investigation at the Smith house and engaged him in conversation, expressing genuine interest in Jerry's life and abilities. Perhaps because they were both ostracized and mocked by the rest of the Ricks present, the two quickly bonded.
Although it seems that Doofus Rick is the most sentimentally smart Rick!
"You know Jerry, I’m not gonna tell you that these will increase in value, or even hold their current value. The truth is… you bought ‘em ‘cause you like ‘em. They have value to you. That’s what matters."
- Doofus Rick, S01E10Toxic Rick: He is an extracted manifestation of what Rick Sanchez considers to be all his toxins at the time of the episode 'Rest and Ricklaxation', and the main antagonist of this episode. Toxic Rick is the embodiment of all qualities Rick deems negative. He is aggressive, egotistical (even to the point of calling himself god), dishonest, and vengeful.
" Are you listening, you stupid little garbage person?! "
"I’m a fucking genius and a god. You really think this thing can hold me? I’m gonna rip your throat... "
"If God exists, it’s fucking me! "
Pickle Rick: Well, there is an episode where Rick turns himself into a... pickle. He is not a Rick from another dimension, he is not an antagonist, he is just... Pickle Rick!
I turned myself into a Pickle ! I am Pickle Rick !
Because I don't respect therapy, because I'm a scientist. Because I invent, transform, create, and destroy for a living, and when I don't like something about the world, I change it.
Pickle Rick, S03E03Sentiments differ a lot between Rick and his other versions: this analysis shows how there are actually differ even though they are the clone of the same character!
Doofus Rick is the most positive Rick, with around 90% of positive sentiments. There is nothing in his dialogues that shows fear or sadness, and a very few anger. Besides he has much higher percentage of joy and surprise than the other Ricks. All these can be totally justified by his naivity, and his willingness to do good more than dominate the others. Though he has the smallest ratio of anticipation, which indicates he is the Carpe Diem Rick, enjoying the present instant and people around him.
Toxic Rick's words represent almost 65% of negative sentiments: he his the most negative Rick, and the less positive at the same time. Disgust is the dominant emotion of his dialogues, and Joy and Surprise the lowest ones. Therefore this sentiment analysis matches with the representation of Toxic Rick, who incarns the worst parts of Rick.
Last but not least, Pickle Rick! In the first graph, he presents almost the same sentiments in general as Rick. By observing the emotions more precisely, we can see some differences! He is Rick, but with more joy and fear and less trust. Well yeah, he turned into a pickle, so life got more difficult as the episode proves!
We have decided to compare our main Morty from C-137 with Toxic Morty!
Toxic Morty: Toxic Morty is the incarnation of Morty's toxins, at the time of the episode 'Rest and Ricklaxation'.
He is fearful and self-depreciating, as well as entirely submissive to Toxic Rick. While it was never explicitly shown (likely due to him playing only a sidekick's role in Toxic Rick's plans) Toxic Morty is implied to have been very conscientious and moral.
"I believe you, but I just want to die. ... Oh, I don’t like confrontation! ... I don’t want to be on camera. I’m ugly and gross, please. ... Oh, everybody hates me. ... I can tell. Y-You all hate me. ... This is scary! "
Toxic Morty, S0EE06Toxic Morty has 80% of negativeness, which is a huge score!
He has no anticipation or surprise and limited joy, while his negative emotions are very high! Especially anger reaches 50%! He is also very fearful and sad in the episode, and our text analysis proves it!
